Mahindra Bolero Neo vs Maruti Vitara Brezza | Sub 4 metre SUV comparison

Mahindra rolled out the Bolero Neo into the sub-4-metre SUV category not very long ago. While the Mahindra did already had the XUV 300 competing in this category, Mahindra believes that adding the Bolero Neo to this competition as well will help them gain more dominance in this category. The Maruti Vitara Brezza is has gained excellent ground in the sub-4-metre segment but does face a lot of competition as this particular segment is a hotspot in the Indian automobile industry.

Keeping in mind that while both, the Bolero Neo and the Vitara Brezza are fundamentally very different vehicles, they are still sub-4-metre SUV's and will lock horns in this competition as Maruti and Mahindra hold mass appeal in tier 2 and 3 cities.

Mahindra Bolero Neo vs Maruti Vitara Brezza - Design and Dimensions

Quite obviously as both these SUV's compete in the same category, they have the same length. The height and wheelbase are where the Bolero Neo has a clear advantage. Compared to the Maruti, the Mahindra is 176 mm taller and has a 180 mm longer wheelbase. Due to that higher stance, the Bolero Neo also leads the way in boot space with 384 litres compared to the Vitara Brezza's 328 litres

Mahindra has worked well on the Bolero Neo's design but it isn't very distinguishable from the TUV 300. A new mesh grille with vertical chrome strakes, a large front bumper to fit a larger airdam, new foglamp housing, redesigned alloy wheels and updated headlights with new detailing and LED's have been added. The Brezza is the one with the looks though. Brezza has got LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED fog lamps, a floating roof design and a well-finished chrome grille which makes the much more appealing.

A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, front and rear power windows, remote lock and keyless entry, height-adjustable driver's seat, steering-mounted controls, and Blue Sense app connectivity are among the amenities available with the Mahindra Bolero Neo. It also features a dual-tone black and beige-themed interior, yes it does get some new features over the older Bolero. For safety purposes, the Bolero Neo comes equipped with ABS with EBD, driver and passenger airbags, corner braking control, reverse parking sensors and a high-speed alert system.

The Vitara Brezza comes with a lot more equipment. it gets an auto-dimming IRVM, leather steering wheel, a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, front and rear centre armrests, steering-mounted controls, auto temperature control, push-button start/stop, and more are included in the cabin of the sub-4-metre SUV. The Brezza also comes with safety features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, -Hold Assist (AT Only), a reverse parking camera and rain-sensing wiper.

Mahindra Bolero Neo vs Maruti Vitara Brezza - Engine and Performance

In terms of performance, both of these SUV's are vastly different. The Mahindra Bolero Neo N10 comes with the 1.5 litre mHawk three-cylinder diesel from the TUV300 which produces 100PS and but torque has increased by 20mm to 240 Nm. The Maruti Vitara Brezza ZXi Plus comes with a 1.5 petrol power plant, which makes 105PS and 138Nm of torque. Both vehicles are mated with 5-speed manual transmission.

Mahindra Bolero Neo vs Maruti Vitara Brezza - Price

Both SUV's fall in the same price bracket. The Mahindra Bolero Neo N10 is priced at Rs 9.99 lakh and the Maruti Vitara Brezza ZXi Plus is priced a little below it at Rs 9.85 lakh. With pricing very similar both these fundamentally different vehicles are expected to dominate the sub-4-metre category in the market.
