Mahindra Thar 5-door pictures leaked ahead of 15 Aug launch
The pictures of the production-spec long-awaited Mahindra Thar 5-door, dubbed the Armada, have been leaked on the internet ahead of its launch on 15 August this year, which is merely 31 days away as of Monday. These spy pictures offer a clear close-up look of its front end, while the side profile is partly visible.
As previously mentioned in our exclusive story with spy pictures, the details of the undisguised Thar 5-door align with the report. As seen in the latest spy shots, the SUV gets a distinctive front end with a new grille, LED headlights with a crescent-shaped daytime driving lights, and LED fog lamps. It also gets a dual-tone front bumper, which is reminiscent of the on-sale Thar. Moreover, another spy shot shows newly designed alloy wheels, door handles borrowed from the current Thar, and large vertical outdoor rear view mirrors with the Thar lettering.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: InteriorAlthough the interior spy pictures have not been leaked, we expect the Thar 5-door to get the 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (that is seen on the XUV400 and XUV700), a new steering wheel, revamped dashboard and centre console, electronic 4WD control switch, USB Type-C/Type-A ports, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and more.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: Features
The upcoming 5-door SUV is also likely to get a 360deg camera, telematics, Adrenox connected car tech, six or more airbags, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control, TPMS, traction control, advanced suspension setup, drive modes, off-road modes, panoramic sunroof, and ADAS, among others.
Mahindra Thar 5-door: Engine & transmission optionsPowering the Thar 5-door could be the same engine options as the three-door model, which includes a 2.0-litre mStallion engine producing 152PS and 300Nm of torque (320Nm with AT) and a 2.2-litre mHawk engine generating 132PS and 300Nm of torque. In contrast, it might well borrow different and more powerful petrol and diesel units from the Scorpio-N, producing 175PS/370Nm of torque (400Nm with AT) and 200PS and 370Nm of torque (380Nm with AT), respectively.
