Mahindra Thar 5-door to come with sunroof in 2024
The Mahindra Thar 5-door debut date has been set for 2024. New spy images have leaked ahead of time, confirming the presence of a sunroof and this is the first time the model has been spotted with a sunroof. Mahindra has sold well over 1 lakh Thar vehicles since its introduction in late 2020. The Indian manufacturer presently has a pending order book of approximately 58,000 Thars.
The Thar 5 door and XUV300 facelift are two new vehicle debuts scheduled for next year. The demand for sunroof-equipped vehicles has skyrocketed in recent years. Both cars can be seen wearing a single-pane sunroof.
The five-door Thar appears to be an extension of the ordinary three-door Thar. Thanks to the extended wheelbase, the second row of the five-door Thar will now have more room.
As with the Swift, the rear door handle is located on the C-pillar. The rear washer/wiper is still absent from the rear windscreen. The trunk capacity will be significantly more than the 3-door variant because of the longer wheelbase and longer body. The features will probably remain the same as the 3-door equivalents.
Two engines are available for the current Thar: a 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. While the latter is capable of 130PS, the former delivers a robust 150PS. A smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine from the XUV300, which produces 117PS and 300 Nm of peak torque, and a six-speed manual transmission are both used in the recently released 2WD Thar.
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO, Mahindra & Mahindra said, " Our five-door Thar is a highly anticipated product. It's not coming in this calendar year, much as many people are speculating it is. It's a 2024 launch."
