Mahindra Thar five-door might feature panoramic sunroof
New spy pictures of the Mahindra Thar five-door have surfaced online, revealing a potential crowd-pleasing feature: a panoramic sunroof. This comes after previous sightings hinted at a single-pane sunroof. The Creta facelift recently crossed one lakh bookings mark, out of which, over 71 per cent of bookings were for sunroof variants, underscores the growing demand for sunroofs in India. From hatchbacks, sedans to trendy SUVs, one out of every four cars sold in the country now comes with a sunroof. Mahindra's XUV 3XO recently became the first and only sub-compact SUV to offer a panoramic sunroof, and the Thar five-door may also follow the suit.
The production-ready prototypes of the Thar five-door have already given away glimpses of its design. While it will carry over the same design as the on-sale Thar, there will be some distinctions between the two. The extended three-row version will boast a reworked grille, front and rear bumpers, new wheels, LED headlamps, and re-profiled taillamps.
Unlike the round rear wheel arches of the current model, the Thar five-door version will feature squared-off wheel arches at the rear. The high-mounted stoplight, which is located inside the rear window of the current Thar, has been moved above the rear glass panel in the Thar five-door.
Inside, Mahindra will revamp the cabin in order to give it more modern features and make it uncluttered with a touch of lifestyle. The most significant changes over the Thar will include, as seen in the various spy pictures, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, AdrenoX connected car tech, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. What will also be on offer is a new 4WD terrain mode selector, which will be placed by the gear stick with backlit labels instead of a floor-mounted shifter. However, the Thar five-door is likely to keep the analogue instrument cluster with MID and a mechanical handbrake instead of an electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Mahindra could also surprise everyone with more potent petrol and diesel versions offered with the Scorpio-N, producing 200PS and 370Nm of torque or 380Nm with AT and 175PS/370Nm of torque or 400Nm with AT, respectively.
