Mahindra Thar hits 1 lakh production mark in under 2.5 years
Mahindra has announced that its iconic off-roader, the Thar, has reached a significant production milestone of 1 lakh units and has done so in less than 2 and half years.
The Thar is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to either a six-speed manual or six-speed torque converter automatic. It produces 150PS and 300Nm of torque while the automatic powertrain makes 320Nm of torque. There is the latest generation of tried and trusted mHawk - a 2.2-litre diesel engine available with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic. It makes 130PS and 300Nm of torque.
The rear-wheel drive 1.5-litre diesel variant of the Thar produces 117PS and 300 NM and can be paired with a six-speed manual only.
The Thar comes equipped with a variety of features, including electronic driveline disconnect on the front axle, mechanical locking differential and brake locking differential, TPMS, ESP with rollover mitigation, a roll cage, dual airbags, snow chain provision for tyres, and Bluesense app connectivity.
The 4x4 version now gets an electronic brake locking differential from Bosch that reacts more aggressively when needed. The mechanical locking differential continues as an option on the LX diesel versions. There are new accessory packs as well which add exterior styling elements as well as interior enhancements like front and rear armrests with storage.
Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. said, "We are incredibly proud to reach this significant milestone of 100,000 units of the Mahindra Thar.
