Mahindra XEV 9e launched in India at Rs 21.90 lakh

Alongside the BE 6e, Mahindra has also launched the all-new XEV 9e at an introductory price of Rs 21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). It will sit above the XUV400 and the BE 6e in Mahindra's EV profile. Pricing of the remaining variants will be revealed in January and booking are also expected to begin around the same time.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Design & Dimensions

The XEV 9e measures 4,790mm in length, 1,905mm in width, 1,690mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,775mm. The XEV 9e looks like an electrified version of the XUV700, at least in terms of the silhouette, even though it is kind of like a coupe SUV.

With linked LED DRLs that feature an inverted L form, it has a sleek, powerful appearance up front. Together with a closed-off grille and a simple-looking bumper, the LED headlights are placed vertically. Additionally, it has a strong shoulder profile, flush sitting door handles, and specially made 19-inch alloy wheels that are aero-optimized for increased range. Alloys measuring 20 inches are an optional addition. The thin LED taillights at the back are positioned just beneath a little boot spoiler-like form and are linked similarly to those at the front.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Interior & Features

While the BE 6e only features two screens in its cabin, the XEV 9e goes a step further and showcases three 12.3-inch high-resolution screens. the third screen will sit in front of the co-passenger. A two-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel with an illuminated emblem is another feature of the electric SUV as well as HVAC controls in the centre console.

Other features include a panoramic glass roof, wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay, dual-zone climate control, multi-colour ambient lighting, powered and ventilated front seats, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, cruise control, multiple wireless phone chargers, connected car technology, 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera, auto park, multiple ADAS tech and much more.

Mahindra XEV 9e: Powertrain

Similar to the BE 6e, Mahindra's scalable and modular born-EV INGLO platform serves as the foundation for the XEV 9e. Both also have lifetime warranties on their battery packs and share the same 59kWh and 79kWh LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) batteries. Mahindra says the larger battery pack has a range of 533 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.

The smaller battery pack produces a maximum of 231PS and 380Nm of torque. The larger pack produces the same amount of torque but the power figure is bumped up to 286PS. With a 175kWh DC fast charger, it can fast charge from 20 to 80 percent in 20 minutes and sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in a claimed 6.7 seconds. At the moment the car can only be had in RWD configuration.
