Mahindra XUV 300 electric to be launched in the first quarter of 2023
Mahindra & Mahindra said on Monday that the completely electric version of its XUV 300 SUV will be available in the market in the first quarter of next year.
The company also revealed that in August of this year, it would disclose its electric car business plan, dubbed the "Born Electric Vision" of EV idea. Mahindra has recently joined with Volkswagen to investigate the usage of Volkswagen's modular electric drive matrix (MEB) components in its electric vehicles.
The MEB electric platform and its components enable automakers to swiftly and cost-effectively expand their electrified vehicle line.
Another piece of information that was revealed is that the electric version of the Mahindra XUV300 will be 4.2 meters long, while the internal combustion engine version will be 3.9 meters long. Excise duty will be imposed as a result of the greater length, but this also means more space within the cabin and the possibility of a larger, longer-range battery.
The Tata Nexon EV is one of Mahindra's electric XUV300's closest competitors. Because the recently introduced Nexon EV Max has a stated range of 437km per charge, Mahindra will need to provide a range of 400km or more to be competitive.
Mahindra and Mahindra also announced an almost 5-fold increase in standalone profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2022, at Rs 1,192 crore. According to Mahindra, it had a profit of Rs 245 crore in the previous financial year. Revenue increased by 28 percent to Rs 17,124 crore in the quarter under review, compared to Rs 13,356 crore in the March quarter 2020-21, according to the company.
