Mahindra XUV400 Vs Mahindra XUV300: What's different?
Mahindra will launch the Mahindra XUV400 in January 2023 but we have already seen what the car is like, you can read about it here. While the XUV400 is a new addition to the range, it is not an all-new platform. In fact, the upcoming EV shares most of its components with the ICE Mahindra XUV300. Let's take a closer look at everything that is different between the XUV400 and XUV300.
Mahindra XUV400 Vs Mahindra XUV300: Design and Dimensions
The XUV400 is a longer, sub-4m SUV compared to the shorter XUV300. The XUV300 is a derivative of the Ssangyong Tivoli, however, it was shrunk to maintain its length under 4 meters in order to receive tax benefits. The XUV400 has a larger boot than the XUV300, at 378 litres, thanks to its 205mm longer length.
The EV also has a reprofiled tailgate, while the XUV300's taillight cluster is comparable. The XUV400 also receives a new bumper design, a grille with an X pattern that has been blanked out, and extensive copper accents, including the copper-coloured "Twin Peaks" Mahindra emblem. According to Mahindra, copper will soon become the emblematic colour for its electric vehicles.
Mahindra XUV400 Vs Mahindra XUV300: Powertrains
The Mahindra XUV400 packs a 39.5 kWh battery pack that has a claimed range of 456 km (MIDC) on a single charge. A DC fast charger can charge the battery from 0 to 80 percent in 50 minutes. A 149PS and 310 Nm electric motor powers the XUV400. There are three driving modes available, each having steering, throttle responsiveness, and regeneration adjustments. According to Mahindra, its acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph takes 8.3 seconds.
A 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine and a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine are the two possible powertrain options for the Mahindra XUV300. While the latter generates 116PS and 300Nm of torque, the former only produces 110PS and 200Nm. Both an AMT and six-speed manual transmission are available.

An electric sunroof, a 7-inch touchscreen with 60+ connected car functions, and dual-zone climate control are among its highlights. The XUV400 EV is equipped with several active safety measures in addition to six airbags, a rear parking camera, electronic stability control (ESC), cornering brake control, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and numerous other safety-related features.
Sunroof, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and BlueSense technology, cruise control, steering-mounted controls, dual-zone automatic temperature control, push-button start-stop, and auto-dimming IRVM are all also standard on the Mahindra XUV300. 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a reverse parking camera, cornering brake control, TPMS, all-four disc brakes, seatbelt reminders, impact-sensing auto door unlocking, and speed-sensing auto door locking are among the model's safety features.
