Mahindra XUV500 W8 and W10 get push-button start and passive keyless entry as standard
Mahindra launched the refreshed XUV500 last year. The updates to the SUV include a tweaked exterior design, more premium interior and sunroof. The other features that the XUV500 received were keyless entry and push-button start. However, the latter two features were only offered in the manual variants. Mahindra has now made it a standard feature on four variants of the XUV500 - W8, W8AT, W10 and W10AT.
The push-button start and passive keyless entry features have been included in the XUV500 models manufactured since the last week of May. The door handles get a compact request button while the flip-out key has been replaced by a smart key, similar to some of the premium vehicles available in the market. This adds to the already comprehensive list of features which include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, voice assist, automatic headlights and wipers, dual airbags and ABS with EBD.
The Mahindra XUV500 is powered by a 2.2-litre motor that puts out 140PS at 3,750rpm and generates 330Nm at 1,600-2,800rpm. This engine comes with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmissions. The automatic gearbox is a smooth shifting unit but doesn't feel in sync with the 2.2-litre mHawk engine. We experienced this in our recent comparison of the Mahindra XUV500 automatic and the Toyota Innova Crysta automatic. Read detailed story here. Mahindra also offers the XUV500 with a smaller displacement 1.99-litre motor that puts out identical power and generates 320Nm of torque. This version is currently sold only in Delhi-NCR owing to the ban on diesel vehicles over 2,000cc. The Mahindra XUV500 primarily competes with the Hyundai Creta in India.
The on-road Mumbai prices for the Mahindra XUV500 variants with keyless entry and push-button start are as following:
W8 - Rs 18.89 lakh
W8 AWD - 19.97 lakh
W10 - Rs 19.98 lakh
W10 AWD - Rs 21.32 lakh
W10AT FWD - Rs 20.83 lakh
W10 AWD AT - Rs 22.13 lakh
