Maruti launches CNG variant of Ertiga at Rs 6.52 lakh, ex-Delhi
The country's largest auto maker Maruti Suzuki, on Saturday, launched the CNG variant of its Ertiga MPV. Termed as 'Ertiga Green', it will be available in two variants with the base Lxi available at Rs 6.52 lakhs, while the top-end Vxi is priced at Rs 7.30 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).
With this, the Ertiga will now be available in three fuel variants: petrol, diesel and CNG. The CNG Ertiga will be available in Delhi NCR, Gujarat, Mumbai, Pune, and parts of Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
This is the sixth vehicle from MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) with factory fitted CNG kits. The Alto, Wagon R, Eeco, SX4 and Estilo are already offered with CNG kits. Maruti quotes a fuel efficiency of 22.80km/kg for the Ertiga CNG.
The launch of the Ertiga CNG is yet another measure to drive up sales. In May MSIL's total sales dropped by 14.4 per cent. Its domestic sales also slipped by 13 per cent.
With the company having already announced June as the 'exchange month' offering its existing customers attractive schemes on exchange of old cars, the launch seems to have been timed perfectly for the Ertiga to cash in on some ripe prospects.
"We continuously work to offer products that are high on fuel efficiency and low on overall cost of ownership. Ertiga Green, with a factory fitted CNG system, is another step of Maruti Suzuki to meet today's need of our customers," said Manohar Bhat, vice president (Marketing).
