Maruti Suzuki and Toyota's upcoming mid-size SUV spotted testing once again
It hasn't been a secret that Maruti Suzuki and Toyota have been in the works on a mid-size SUV to rival the best selling segment in India. The upcoming mid-size SUV was spotted once again testing and we've got a closer look at what the car would look like.
Developed under the Maruti Suzuki and Toyota joint venture, this all-new SUV will be launched in India later this year.
The new car seems to have adopted the ongoing trend of having split headlights and DRLs. With a fairly good ground clearance, the SUV also seems to be riding on 17-inch alloy wheels. The silhouette of the SUV is also similar to the existing Toyota's RAV4 crossover SUV, with the SUV featuring squared-off wheel arches and chunky tyres.
No official name for the SUV has been spoken of yet, but we don't expect a diesel engine to be an option at the time of the car's launch. Rumours also suggest that the new car will be priced somewhere between the Rs 12 to Rs 16 lakh figure.
The new mid-size SUV would only be available with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. It is expected to include a true hybrid setup, which means it will be able to function on battery power alone. As a result, it should be the most fuel-efficient SUV in its class. Despite the fact that the engine is not turbocharged, overall power is predicted to be high thanks to the electric motor boost.
On a closer glimpse at the cabin of the car, a fairly big infotainment system also seems to be on board. We expect the vehicle to be launched somewhere around the Diwali season.
Upon launch, the jointly developed compact SUVs will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the Volkswagen Taigun, in the highly populated compact SUV segment
