Maruti Suzuki Baleno-based SUV to make debut in 2023?
According to a recent spy sighting, Maruti Suzuki will offer a crossover subcompact SUV based on the Baleno that would sit above the company's premium hatchback in its Nexa range. Codenamed YTB, the crossover is likely to be unveiled at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo.
The crossover has a coupe-SUV roofline and will include components from the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Maruti's nimble 1-litre Boosterjet engine. At its debut, it will compete with the Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon.
It is challenging to the look of the next Maruti Suzuki Baleno Crossover model since it is heavily disguised. The observed photographs reveal a few design cues, including sleek two-piece vertically stacked taillights, somewhat squared wheel arches, a sizable rear spoiler with a high-mount stop light, and sizable yet fashionable door-mounted ORVMs.
The crossover has split headlights that resemble those on the Grand Vitara up front, as well as a larger-than-average trapezoidal front grille than the Baleno. The crossover SUV will be built on Maruti's Heartect platform, like the hatchback.
The enthusiast-friendly 1-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine from Maruti, which was last used in the Baleno RS before the implementation of BS6 emission standards, will return in the company's crossover vehicle. It was adjusted back then for a little bit more than 100PS and 150Nm. It will be mated to a base 5-speed manual transmission and maybe Maruti's new 6-speed automatic transmission as an option.
The dashboard for the compact SUV is anticipated to resemble that of the new Baleno. A 9-inch touchscreen, a premium audio system, automated climate control, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, electronic stability control, and a head-up display should all be standard. It may be available with a sunroof like the Brezza.
