Maruti Suzuki launches Suzuki Connect connected tech for Arena sales channel
Maruti Suzuki has expanded the scope of its Suzuki Connect suite of connected features by launching it for its Arena range of models. Suzuki Connect has already been available on the Nexa cars, but will now be available throughout the Maruti Suzuki line-up for Rs 11,900 for an initial three-year subscription. This can be further extended by three years for Rs 2,299 or Rs 999 for a year-long plan.
Suzuki Connect bundles together features like security alerts, geofencing, vehicle status, navigate to car, vehicle tracking, driving analytics report, functional alerts and roadside assistance. All of this can be accessed through an app available on iOS and Android. The device works through a Telematics Control Unit (TCU), which exchanges information through a cellular network with a centralised cloud-based server interacting with the customer through the app. The unit is concealed deep inside the vehicle to make it difficult to tamper with. The device is also available to existing Maruti Suzuki owners as an accessory across all of Maruti Suzuki's 2,800 showrooms in over 2,000 cities.
Shashank Srivastava, senior executive director of marketing and sales at Maruti Suzuki India Limited said of this development, "Since its launch at Nexa, Suzuki Connect has been well-appreciated by over 50,000 Nexa customers. A nationwide extensive study was undertaken to understand the challenges faced by the car owners on a daily basis and their expectations from these solutions, like receiving alerts for tow away, intrusion and AC idling etc. Suzuki Connect empowers customers with convenience at their fingertips thus enhancing their car ownership experience. We are optimistic that it will be successful with our Arena customers as well."
Most of Maruti Suzuki's best-sellers are from the Arena line-up which should mean much greater take-up for Suzuki Connect going forward. In August 2021, the Alto, Vitara Brezza, Swift and Eeco were among the top 10 bestselling cars in the country, with the Baleno being the sole Nexa offering but topping the chart.
