Maruti Suzuki opens multi-speciality hospital with Zydus Hospitals
Maruti Suzuki has partnered with Zydus to start a multi-speciality hospital in Sitapur, Ahmedabad district, Gujarat. The company has put Rs 126 crore into this project via its CSR arm, Maruti Suzuki Foundation, while the functioning of the full-sized facility will be undertaken by the Ramanbhai Foundation, which oversees the Zydus Group's CSR functions.
The 24x7 hospital is a 50-bed facility spread over 7.5 acres which can be expanded to house 100 beds. The facility is manned by doctors recruited and trained by Zydus Hospitals and offers services like emergency care and trauma, advanced diagnostics, critical care for stabilisation in life-threatening conditions, mother & childcare, cardiac
care, eye care, burns, ENT, internal medicine and general medicine. Currently, the facility has been converted into a COVID-care facility to manage the crisis in the region.
An integrated residential facility has also been developed with a dormitory for 160 occupants and 20 two-BHK flats for staff employed with the hospital. The staff have access to amenities like a gymnasium, cafeteria, shops, library
and garden.
Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India said,"When our Gujarat car plant started, there was no major medical facility available in the region. We decided to build a good quality multi-speciality hospital for the benefit of all residents of that area and partnered with one of the best names in healthcare âÂ" Zydus Hospitals. Fortunately, it was in time for the COVID19 second wave and we have converted it into a COVID-care facility to help fight the pandemic. We would like to express our gratitude to the government of Gujarat and the government authorities of Ahmedabad district for their support in this project."
