Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza sells 6 lakh units in 5 years
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza has now becomes the fastest to reach the 6 lakh sales milestone in its segment. The Vitara Brezza was launched in 2016 as Maruti Suzuki's answer to the sub-four-metre SUV segment. The Brezza has been the largest selling compact SUV for most of the last five years, having only been overtaken by the Kia Sonet and then the Hyundai Venue in the past months.
The Vitara Brezza crossed the first 1 lakh sales mark in February 2017, in less than a year of its launch. The second lakh cars were sold by October the same year. In 2018, the three lakh sales mark in October with the four and five lakh sales marks coming in February and December 2019 respectively.
The Vitara Brezza was given a facelift with its BSVI upgrade last year with lightly refreshed looks and more features. The biggest changes is the new BSVI-compliant petrol motor, replacing the earlier diesel engine. This is in line with the brand's decision to move away from diesel engines in the BSVI era. The engine is the K15B 1.5-litre four-cylinder as seen in the Ciaz and Ertiga. This motor makes 105PS and 138Nm torque and gets the Smart Hybrid tech to go with it. The motor is paired with either a five-speed manual or four-speed auto. The fuel efficiency of the manual is 17.03 kmpl and AT (automatic with Maruti's smart hybrid) is 18.76 kmpl.
Prices for the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza start from Rs 7.39 lakh for the base LXi petrol and go up to Rs 11.40 lakh for the ZXi AT dual tone, ex-showroom Mumbai.
