Maserati GranTurismo launched in India; prices start at Rs 2.72 crore
Maserati has pulled the wraps off the new GranTurismo in India, with prices starting at Rs 2.72 crore (ex-showroom) for the base Modena. The GranTurismo Trofeo, on the other hand, costs Rs 2.90 crore (ex-showroom). Then, there is top-rung GranTurismo Folgore, which will arrive in the country early in 2025.
Powering the GranTurismo is the 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine with two distinct configurations. Firstly, there is Modena with 490PS and 600Nm of torque and can go from zero to 100kmph in 3.9 seconds with the top speed of 302kmph. Secondly, the GranTurismo Trofeo generates 550PS and 650Nm. With this, it can hit 100kmph from zero in 3.5 seconds and provides a top speed of 320kmph.
The GT's performance is improved by a fully variable all-wheel drive system. Depending on the selected driving mode, the system can adjust from a 50/50 power split in slippery conditions to completely locking out the front axle in 'Corsa' mode, making the GT rear-wheel drive. In Normal and Sport modes, up to 20 per cent of the power is directed to the front wheels. Not to mention, an electronically controlled rear differential also helps make the Trofeo version more agile and dynamic.
The upcoming GranTurismo Folgore gets a three-motor setup, making it an all-wheel-drive system. Paired with a 92.5kWh battery pack, these motors deliver 761PSÂ and 1,350Nm of torque. As a result, the EV can sprint to 100kmph from standstill in 2.7 seconds and tops out at 325kmph. Notably, it has a range of 450km.
Maserati GranTurismo: Design & InteriorThe second-gen Granturismo was revealed in late 2022 after the long-run of the first model. Despite looking similar to its predecessor, Maserati has completely overhauled the new model, which shares its underpinnings with the Grecale alongside some design cues. The structure of the GT uses a mixed-metal construction that is both lighter and stiffer than the previous model. It is also lighter by 60kg at 1795kg compared to the first-gen GranTurismo. Both models are mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Inside, the cabin boasts modern-day equipment with capacitive touch controls, swaps old physical dials and switches. Plus, there is a digital screen instead of the analogue watch on the dashboard. In addition, there is a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an additional 8.8-inch touchscreen for various controls.
