May 2016 issue of OVERDRIVE now on stands

The May 2016 issue is out on stands and here's what to look forward to. One of our bigger stories this month is that we had the opportunity to spend some one on one time with the brand new redi-GO and have a detailed preview piece for those of you wondering just what to expect from the latest Datsun.

We finally get to drive the upcoming Innova Crysta and Halley is really impressed, all that stands to be seen is how well Toyota prices it. While the Innova is set to launch early next month, Mahindra launched its new NuvoSport this month.  Since the company claims it does not replace the old Quanto, Mahindra now has three sub-4m utility vehicles that offer a seven seat layout. Lots of choice for someone looking for that particular flavour. For those wondering what is the best sub 4m SUV to buy, we pitched the Mahindra NuvoSport against our current favourite, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and also threw in the TUV300 in the mix to see just how different the NuvoSport is from it's sibling.

With Skoda claiming its new Superb is the 'best in next class', we first had to see what it was like against one of the most comfy vehicles in its own category, the Toyota Camry Hybrid. Halley has the answers to this surprisingly apples to oranges comparison.

Of course, no issue of OVERDRIVE will be complete without eye candy and this month we have a real treat for you. Lucky Jamshed was the only Indian who got to sample the sumptuous Rolls Royce Dawn convertible in beautiful South Africa. Closer home, editor Bertrand was in Dubai where he discovered a real firecracker in the new Porsche 718 Boxster. He liked it so much that he isn't concerned with the fact that it loses out on the screaming flat six motor. The rest of us though, we're still in mourning. Finally, Halley went to celebrate with Jeep on their 75th anniversary and got to experience some legendary off-road trails in the Moab desert!

It's not just cars though, this month has seen some spectacular motorcycle content. We have the story for everyone who's remotely tuned into the Indian biking scene has been waiting for. The Royal Enfield Himalayan, and not just a road test but the full comparison with the KTM 200 Duke and Mahindra Mojo. Like Shumi, you'd be surprised at just how close a result that was. Then we got to ride two very interesting new motorcycles - the funky Honda Navi and the Bajaj V15 that uses metal from the INS Vikrant. We also tested the brand new Suzuki Access scooter while Ashok set out to see if the new TVS Victor is good enough to beat the Honda Livo. Interesting result there.

But wait, there's more! We've saved the best for last. The May issue of OVERDRIVE is packed with some gorgeous, fast and super exciting big motorcycles. Shumi wanted to see if the highly impressive  Kawasaki Versys was good enough to take on the much more expensive Triumph Tiger. Rishaad though had an awesome month this time around. First, he spent a week living with the explosive Suzuki GSX-S1000 which he rode for over 2,500km to hit the racetrack. Then he spent a couple of days on board two fun but very, very different cruisers. The Custom 1200 is Harley Davidson's idea of a sporty cruiser while the Diavel is the motorcycle that emerges when Ducati decide to make what they think a cruiser should be. Finally, while he's still trying to wrap his head around just how fast the Suzuki Hayabusa and Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R are, he knows which is the better motorcycle.

All this along with our usual fare of in depth motorsport coverage and detailed reporting and analysis of all that's happened in the automobile world this past month. Head to your local newstand and pick up a copy!
