Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance: Powertrain & Upgrades

Gone are the days of the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 and welcome to the 4-cylinder motor. With a 204PS electric motor placed on the rear axle and a 476PS 2-litre inline-four turbo-petrol engine, the C63 S now has a combined power of 680PS and 1,020Nm of torque. Approximately 200PS more than before!

However, Merc has made several adjustments to ensure that this engine captures the enchantment of the earlier V8. To begin with, the turbocharger is bigger than the one in the A45 (similar powertrain) and has electronic assistance to reduce turbo lag. The additional boost is also always provided whenever it is needed by the electric motor in the back axle.

The acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph takes 3.4 seconds, while the highest speed is limited to 280 km/h. Another thing to keep in mind is that this automobile has all-wheel drive rather than rear-wheel drive like the prior model had. So, those launches ought to be better with the new vehicle, and don't worry - the C63 has a "Drift" mode if you want to swerve about.

The hybrid engine, however, is not just about performance. The new C63 S's 6.1kWh battery pack, which can be charged using a wall box charger, allows it to go 13 km (according to claims) in electric mode. The chassis has undergone considerable modifications to accommodate the C63 S's weight and power. For more agility at slower speeds and greater stability at higher speeds, rear-wheel steering is always available.

Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance: Exterior, Interior & Features

Compared to the standard C-Class that is on sale in India, the AMG C 63 S E has a much more sportier appearance. Along with aggressively designed front air dams and streamlined LED headlamps in the fascia, it has the typical AMG Panamericana front grille. Mercedes claims that ceramic high-performance composite brakes may be specified in place of the regular brakes. It has a highly athletic aspect thanks to its 20-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels encircled by low-profile tires.

Although the LED taillights at the back are familiar, the new diffuser, boot-mounted spoiler, and quad exhaust tips significantly increase the vehicle's angry demeanour. Mercedes also says that exclusive paint options like AMG matt graphite grey magno are customizable

The interior design of the AMG C63 S E and the regular C-Class model is identical. The all-black motif and steering wheel designed specifically for AMG though remind you that this is the wilder sibling. Among its many features are a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, a Burmester sound system, the 12.3-inch infotainment by MBUX with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a 360-degree camera.
