Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe and CLE Cabriolet launch on August 8

Mercedes Benz India recently launched the EQA and EQB facelift and now the brand is turning its attention towards their ICE cars. The AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe and CLE Cabriolet will be the next cars to join the German brands' Indian portfolio. Both cars will be launched on August 8 and will come via the CBU route. The CLE and GLC 43 Coupe will be priced above the Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom) mark.

Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet

The CLE Cabriolet will be positioned above the C-Class and based on Mercedes' Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform. It combines elements of both the C-Class and E-Class in terms of its design. The convertible roof's fabric has numerous layers to guard against sound and weather, and consumers will be able to pick between black, grey, and red. The roof takes around 20 seconds to open or close and this can be done at up to 60 kmph.

The cabin hoasts a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch central touchscreen tilted slightly toward the driver, as well as the same circular air vents. Optional features include seat ventilation and a seven-zone massage function. There's a 64-colour ambient lighting system as well as standard Burnmester surround sound with Dolby Atmos, which comprises two speakers embedded in each front seat.

Mercedes hasn't confirmed which engine will be made available for India as there are multiple options overseas. These include a CLE 200 comes with rear-wheel drive and an optional all-wheel drive and is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 204PS and 320Nm of torque. The same engine is utilized in the four-wheel-drive CLE 300 4Matic producing a total of 258PS and 400Nm.

The more powerful CLE 450 4Matic comes equipped with a 3.0-liter inline-six gasoline engine that puts down 381PS and 500Nm of torque. This variant is good enough for a 4.7-second sprint from 0 to 100 kmph and a peak speed of 250 kmph. There is also a diesel model but we're almost certain that won't come to India.

Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic Coupe

Powering the new GLC 43 is a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder petrol engine with a mild hybrid motor that generates 421PS at 6,750rpm and 500Nm of torque at 5,000rpm. The belt-driver starter generator also provides an additional brief boost of 14PS at the low rpm. With this, the 43 can achieve zero to 100kmph in just 4.8 seconds and provides a top speed of 250kmph.

This motor comes mated to AMG's Speedshift MCT 9G automatic transmission and rear-wheel-biased 4Matic all-wheel drive. The GLC 43 comes equipped with the AMG Ride Control steel spring suspension, adaptive damping system, rear-axle steering, AMG sports braking system, and AMG exhaust system.

The coupe rear end complemented by a set of 21-inch AMG alloy wheels and similarly styled bumpers and grille makes this look like an extremely aggressive AMG. The inside is largely based on the GLC but the addition of an AMG steering wheel, sport seats, AMG pedals and AMG graphics in the infotainment and driver display, makes this feel more special.
