Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG GT 63 S E Performance in India with prices starting at Rs 3.3 crore (ex-showroom). Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Design
Over the standard AMG GT 63 S, The AMG 63 S E Performance features several new design elements, such as new sportier bumpers at the front and rear, E Performance lettering on the fenders, new 20-inch front and 21-inch rear alloy wheels, trapezoidal dual exhaust trips, and an adaptive rear spoiler. Being a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, it also comes with a charging port located at the back.
The India-spec GT 63 S E Performance is available in a choice of 17 paint jobs and four alloy wheels design options. The firm also offers two roof choices, three AMG stripes kits, and 14 designo packages.
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Interior
The interior comes draped in high-grade Nappa leather upholstery. The India-spec model offers 14 upholstery options, two seat styles, and four trim choices.
The cockpit bears a new twin-spoke AMG steering wheel with round mode-selector switches. For reference, the AMG Dynamic Select provides an array of modes, such as Electric, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Race, Slippery, and Individual. Meanwhile, it gets AMG hybrid-specific 12-inch widescreen displays.
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Electronics
The GT 63 S E Performance comes outfitted with AMG ride control+ suspension with adaptive dampers and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential. It also gets AMG Dynamic Select modes: Basic, Advanced, Pro, and Master, which determine how the vehicle should react.
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Powertrain
The AMG GT 63 S E Performance is not only the first-ever hybrid AMG but is also the most-powerful AMG to date. It gets a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine linked to an electric motor and a small battery pack. While the engine produces 639PS and 900Nm of torque, the motor can generate 204PS and 320Nm. The combined power output of the engine and motor is rated at 843PS and 1,470Nm. Meanwhile, this hybrid system is paired with an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G automatic transmission.
The 6.1kWh battery pack delivers 70kW output. With this, the AMG GT 63 S E Performance enables an EV-only mode with up to 12km. In this mode, it provides a top speed of 130kmph. Since there is a battery pack, the car also gets four-level energy recuperation: 0, 1, 2, and 3. As claimed, the 3rd level of energy regeneration also allows a single-pedal drive.
With the power of an electrified V8, the GT 63 S E Performance can go from zero to 100kmph in just 2.9 seconds, while it achieves 200kmph in less than 10 seconds. Notably, the sporty saloon tops out at 316kmph. Furthermore, Mercedes-AMG has bestowed the GT 63 S E Performance with a fully variable 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system with a drift mode.
