Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance launch on 22 May: What should you expect?
Mercedes-Benz India is ready to debut the new AMG S 63 4Matic+ E Performance in the country on May 22. The flagship S-Class' high-performance version, the S 63 has been fitted with an electric motor and a battery pack, making the V8-powered saloon the most potent S-Class to date.
The AMG S 63 E Performance is the most powerful S-Class to date. The powertrain is the same as the GLS: a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol. However, it is partnered with a true plug-in hybrid system, resulting in a total combined output of 813 PS and 1430 Nm. The 4Matic+ system (all-wheel drive) delivers a 0-100kmph speed of 3.3 seconds.
It is equipped with a nine-speed, multi-clutch transmission, while the electric motor receives a two-speed gearbox. Thanks to a 13.1kWh battery pack, the premium sedan can also go up to 33 kilometres on pure electric driving.
Additionally, the placement of the motor and battery is claimed to improve handling and weight distribution. There are seven driving modes, such as Electric, Comfort, Battery Hold, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, and Individual.
Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance: Design and Interior
The S 63 doesn't look like an ordinary S-Class and definitely screams AMG just from its looks. In terms of design, the S 63 E Performance features the new AMG-spec grille, a front bumper with wider air intakes, 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, and signature AMG quad-exhaust tips
True to the S label, there are plenty of creature amenities on the interior, such as ambient lighting, a 12.8-inch MBUX infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, and four-zone temperature control. While the interior layout will remain the same, it will have AMG-specific components such as a sportier steering wheel and AMG-specific graphics and menus.
Keeping in mind the Mercedes S-Class is priced at Rs 1.77 crore and the Maybach S-Class is priced at 2.72 crore, we would expect the price of this S 63 E Performance to be upwards of Rs 3 crore (ex-showroom).
