Mercedes-Benz announces a global recall of older models on account of potential brake booster problem
Mercedes-Benz has announced a global recall of over 1 million older vehicles owing to a potential brake booster issue.
Advanced corrosion may impact the effectiveness of the brake booster in certain cars, according to the manufacturer. As a result, the driver may have to apply more effort to the brake pedals to assist slow the automobile down, thereby increasing the vehicle's stopping distance.
Older vehicles, including cars such as the ML, GL and R-Class series, made between 2004 and 2015, may be impacted, according to the manufacturer.
In a statement to Agence France-Presse, Mercedes confirmed the recall, noting that in "rare cases" of very extensive corrosion, a "particularly strong or hard" braking technique might cause mechanical damage to the vehicle's brake booster.
According to Mercedes-Benz, a total of 993,000 vehicles have been recalled globally, with 70,000 of them coming from Germany.
