Mercedes-Benz G 400d launched in India, prices start from Rs 2.55 crore
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new G-Class AMG Line and Adventure Edition in India, both priced at Rs 2.55 crore ex-showroom. The G-Class has been in production for over 40 years now and it's safe to say that no other vehicle in the Mercedes-Benz portfolio has a bigger cult following. The G 400d will sit below the full-blown AMG G 63 SUV. The two new SUVs, the G 400d AMG Line and the G 400d Adventure Edition may be booked for Rs 1.5 lakh and deliveries will begin from the fourth quarter of this year.
The 3.0-litre, in-line six-cylinder diesel engine produces 330PS in the G 400d, up from 286PS in the discontinued G 350d. It produces 700Nm of torque. A 9-speed automatic transmission transfers power to all four wheels, and the G 400d sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.4 seconds. The brand says this is the most powerful diesel engine in a Mercedes-Benz ever.
The G 400d retains its original ladder-frame architecture and receives a specific G-Mode with off-road driving capabilities. In G Mode, the vehicle adjusts the chassis suspension, steering, and accelerator characteristics, minimizing needless gearshifts and assuring optimal off-road performance. It has a ground clearance of 241mm and a fording depth of 700mm.
Mercedes-Benz G 400d Adventure Edition
The G-Class Adventure Edition adds a roof rack, a retractable ladder, a spare wheel holder, 18-inch alloy wheels, a full-size spare wheel, leather inside, and other features. The G-Class Adventure Edition is available in a total of 25 colour variations, including four exclusive colour options i.e Desert Sand non-metallic, Vintage blue non-metallic, Travertine beige metallic and South Seas blue metallic
Mercedes-Benz G 400d AMG LineThe AMG Line, as the name indicates, is the sportier of the two models, with 20-inch alloy wheels, a Burmester surround sound system, a sliding sunroof, ambient lighting in 64 colours, and a widescreen cockpit.
In the Indian market, the G 400d will continue to compete with the renowned Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser 300.
