Mercedes-Benz India to showcase the Concept EQG at 2024 Bharat Mobility Show

The Mercedes-Benz Concept EQG was first announced in September 2021 and now we seem to be extremely close to seeing the car in full production form. The car was last seen doing 360-degree tank turns (dubbed the 'G-turn') at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, and now India is set to get its first glimpse of the car at the 2024 Bharat Mobility Show.

The Bharat Mobility Show will take place on February 1-3, 2024, at the Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. Mercedes will also be displaying the upcoming AMG GLE 53 and the GLA SUV at the event.

The front appearance of the Concept EQG is unmistakably familiar, thanks to that decades-old boxy stance and circular headlight design. The front grille is closed off and features the same 3D star design as the EQS, as well as an LED strip around it. The spare wheel in the back has been replaced with a storage box. The EQG's roof rack also has a light bar, emphasizing its off-road capabilities.

The chassis design, which is typical of the G-Class, is indeed very off-road competent, with independent suspension on the front axle and a stiff axle at the back, which was created specifically for the integration of the electric motor. The vehicle will have unique on and off-road driving qualities thanks to each wheel having its own individual electric motor.

Mercedes hasn't revealed much information about the powerplant. For the time being, all we know is that the EQG will be equipped with four motors, each of which may be controlled independently. There is also a two-speed gearbox that can transition between low and high-range gears.

The Mercedes-Benz EQG is rumoured for a global debut later this year. The SUV will most definitely reach Indian shores before the end of the year, along with a lineup of other new cars from the German carmaker.
