Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG revealed
German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new S63 AMG, which will make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The all-new S63 AMG will be the performance flagship in Merc's sixth-generation S-Class sedan line.
"Following the successful launch of the A 45 AMG and the CLA 45 AMG, the new S 63 AMG highlights our expertise in the automotive high-end segment. Lightweight construction and absolute performance are among the key strengths of the new flagship model from Mercedes-AMG," said Ola Kllenius, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
The 2014 S63 AMG is fuelled by a 5.5-litre bi-turbo V8 engine that serves up 585Ps of power and a staggering 900Nm of torque. The 2014 S63 AMG is almost 100 kg lighter than its predecessor owing to AMG's 'Lightweight Performance'.
The S63 AMG does a 0-100 dash in 4.4 seconds despite an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. Considering these numbers, this vehicle seems like an engineering 'tour de force'. The S63 is available in four-wheel-drive too, the 4Matic. Mercedes' new Magic Body Control suspension system, which uses a windscreen-mounted camera to read road conditions and adjust the suspension in advance, comes standard in rear-wheel-drive S63 AMGs.
Interiors include an AMG sports steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles, carbon-fibre dash inserts, IWC analogue clock, and embossed AMG logo on the centre console lid.
"We have unquestionably achieved our aim of making the new S 63 AMG more powerful, lightweight and efficient than its predecessor. In terms of driving dynamics as well, the S 63 AMG has made giant leaps forward," said Tobias Moers, Head of Overall Vehicle Development and Board Member, Mercedes-AMG GmbH.
