MG Comet EV interior unveiled ahead of the official launch
MG Motor released the first exterior photograph of the anticipated Comet EV earlier this month, and now the company has revealed the first interior shot of its upcoming electric hatch. The Comet is a rebadged version of the Wuling Air EV offered in Indonesia. The car will be unveiled on April 19, with a price range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh estimated.
As shown in the initial peek, the EV's dashboard features a dual-screen arrangement with two 10.25-inch panels. The left unit will house the infotainment system, while the right unit will be for the instrument cluster. The spherical, multi-function buttons on the steering wheel are expected to operate audio, navigation, and voice commands for the infotainment system, among other things. The basic, two-spoke form works well with the Comet EV's minimalist interior motif.
The Comet will include dedicated controls for the climate control system, making it easier to use. Finally, the choice of light colours gives the interior an airy, luxurious sense. The Comet EV also appears to be well-equipped for such a little EV.
Connected vehicle technology, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, single-zone temperature control, keyless enter and go, and an automatic parking brake with auto hold feature are all expected. Several airbags, electronic stability control, and parking sensors should ensure passenger safety.
The exterior highlights of the Comet are likely to be LED headlights and a full-length light bar at the front among others. Meanwhile, the Comet EV is expected to be powered by a 17.3kWh and a 26.7kWh battery pack. It could have a range between 200km and 300km.
A statement released by MG Motor India stated the Comet is here at a time when driving in congested urban cities is becoming a stressful chore that calls for an urgent need for agile and futuristic solutions amidst skyrocketing fuel costs, sparse parking spaces, and increasing pollution.
The Comet EV will fight with rivals such as the Citroen eC3 and the Tata Tiago when it comes.
