MG Motor unveils the Astor SUV with Level 2 ADAS and personal assistant
MG Motor India is all set to launch its fourth offering in our market and it will continue with the connectivity suite. In line with that, MG hosted the DriveAI event and talked about the AI capabilities of the Astor. MG Astor is said to be the first in India to come with an in-build personal AI assistant. The AI personal assistant can be used to obtain information from Wikipedia via voice commands, jokes, news, weather, navigation, in- features and other voice assist features.
Talking about the design of the Astor, which has been teased for the first time, it gets the bold celestial grille that takes on the imposing front, flanked by slim LED headlights. Only the front profile of the Astor has been teased while we expect the unveiling event later this month. As we stated earlier, MG Astor will be the first in its segment to offer Level 2 ADAS and it's more advanced than what we get with the Gloster. The Level 2 ADAS includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Departure Prevention, Intelligent Headlamp Control (IHC), Rear Drive Assist (RDA) and Speed Assist System amongst others.
MG Astor will come powered with two petrol engine options, a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine. While the exact power figures are yet to be announced, they will come with both manual and automatic transmission options. MG Astor will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
