MG Motors witnesses rise in sales by 28 percent for September 2021
MG Motor recorded a 28 percent rise in retail sales in September 2021. Last month, the automaker sold 3,241 units, compared to 2,537 units it sold in September 2020.
Commenting on the development, Rakesh Sidana, Director-Sales, MG Motor India, said, "Our production has reduced by almost one-third due to chip shortage. We expect this challenge to continue for the next few months. However, given the high number of bookings, we are trying our best to address the challenge and bring down the waiting period down to three months."
MG witnessed a substantial rise in demand for its all-electric ZS EV. The MG ZS EV experienced very high demand in the third consequent month with 600 plus bookings in September.
Due to a semiconductor scarcity, the whole industry is experiencing manufacturing problems, and MG has acknowledged this as well, stating that it has hampered the production capacity significantly.
With the festival season not too far long, MG Motors is all set to launch its latest SUV addition to the MG lineup, the MG Astor.
The MG Astor is a mid-size SUV and MG's answer to the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq. The Astor is identical to the MG ZS EV in terms of visual appearance but only uses a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine or a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated powertrain, instead of the electric batteries.
