MG ZS EV sales grow by 145 per cent in 2021
Sales of the MG ZS EV grew by 145 per cent in 2021, over 2020. MG Motor India sold 2798 units of the ZS EV in 2021 and continues to receive over 700 bookings per month. This makes the ZS EV the second-best-selling EV in India after the Tata Nexon EV.
MG ZS EV range, specificationsThe ZS EV was updated in 2021 with changes to its 44.5 kWh battery pack. MG Motor India revised the pack to better handle temperature and weather changes leading to an improvement in the ARAI-certified range to 419km, from the earlier 340 km. MG Motor India says a real-world range between 300-400km can be expected. The SUV also switched 215/55 R17 tyres. The new battery is now placed higher in the chassis at 205mm while ground clearance has also increased to 177mm. The ZS EV continues to put out 143PS and 353 Nm with a 0 to 100 kmph time of 8.5s.
MG ZS EV prices, features
The MG ZS EV is offered in two variants - Excite and Exclusive - with prices starting from Rs 21.49 lakh. The base variant comes with the glowing MG logo around the grille-placed charge port, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto/Apple Carplay and 6 airbags. The top trim further adds the iSmart suite of connected-car features, panoramic sunroof, PM 2.5 air filter, leather seats, powered and heated outer mirrors, six-way powered driver's seat and rain-sensing wipers.
Upcoming MG ZS EV facelift, long-range expected launch dateIn 2022, MG Motor India is expected to bring in the facelifted MG ZS EV. This will carry over many of the design ques seen on the MG Astor and is also expected to get a larger 72 kWh battery. This version should be good for a real-world range of over 400 km and may also pack a longer list of features as seen on the Astor.
