Michael Schumacher to take part in 2013 Race of Champions
Michael Schumacher might be done with Formula 1, for the second time, but he's certainly not giving up on all motor racing. The German driver, who quit F1 for a second time at the end of the 2012 season, has confirmed that he will compete in the 2013 edition of the Race of Champions. Schumacher is the first driver to confirm his participation in the event that will return to the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand between the 14th and 15th of December.
Of course, it isn't Schumacher's first time at the ROC. The German seven-time world champion has taken part in the event for the last six years, and is now gunning for a seventh consecutive victory in the Nations Cup. Indeed, it is his partnership with Sebastian Vettel that has proved to be unbeatable so far, and the duo have won the event between 2007 and 2012. However, Schumacher hasn't managed to win the Champion of Champions trophy a single time, finishing runner up to Mattias Ekstrom in 2007 and 2009.
Going into the 2013 edition of the now legendary event, Schumacher himself is quite excited. "I am sorry to say but of course we want to win it again! The fact that it will be the seventh title this year makes it even more interesting, at least for me."
Of course, Schuey is looking at racking up his seventh win in the ROC as well, having already won seven world championship titles in Formula 1. But can he and team-mate Seb Vettel do better than they did last year? Well, last year they took ten wins of ten races en route victory. That's going to be pretty hard to top!
