New 2024 BMW R1300GS teased ahead of 28 Sept global debut
BMW Motorrad is all-set to mark its centennial not only by holding the opening ceremony of BMW Motorrad Welt Berlin but also with the world premiere of the all-new R 1300 GS. The successor to the R 1250 GS will be showcased at this exclusive opening ceremony on 28 September, 2023. Ahead of its imminent global debut, the bike maker has officially teased the new R 1300 GS.
Bavarians' recently celebrated a historic milestone of one millionth Boxer engine-equipped GS rolling out of the BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin-Spandau. The 1,000,000th unit that rolled out of the facility was the R 1250 GS adorned in Triple Black Style.
The critically-acclaimed R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure will get a successor next week. To briefly explain, the R 1250 GS was the well-received adventure tourer across the globe. In fact, the GS and GS Adventure contributed significantly the total sales of the BMW Motorrad, with 60,000 units sold in 2022. Motorcycle enthusiasts and GS fans will have big expectations from the upcoming BMW R 1300 GS. Meanwhile, it would be interesting to see how the new flagship adventure tourer will continue the great legacy of its successor.
Powering the R 1300 GS is claimed to be a larger displacement liquid-cooled boxer-twin engine paired with BMW's ShiftCam. With this, it is expected to produce approximately 140-145PS and 145-150Nm of peak torque. Apart from a new engine, the R 1300 GS will feature a range of new rider aids, such as radar-based cruise control system, blind-spot monitoring system similar to the Ducati Multistrada V4.
For India, BMW is likely to introduce the new R 1300 GS in India by the end of the 2023 or at the beginning of the next year. It is expected to command a higher premium over its predecessor.
