New BMW M 1000 R launched in India; prices start at Rs 33 lakh
BMW Motorrad India has launched the new M 1000 R and M 1000 R Competition in India at Rs 33 lakh and 38 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. The M 1000 R has come to the country as a completly built unit (CBU). Notably, the bike maker has commenced bookings for the streetfighter from today onwards, while its deliveries will begin January 2024.
BMW M 1000 R and M 1000 R Competition: Design and coloursThe new BMW M 1000 R is the second M model from the brand after the M 1000 RR, while the third motorcycle to carry the M insignia will be the M 1000 XR. Moreto the point, the M 1000 R features an aggressive and sporty design language. It features new M winglets at the front to produce more down force. BMW has integrated the brake ducts into the new front mudguard in order to improve airflow around the fork legs and brake callipers.
The M Competition Package offers M-specific components, such as the carbon wheels, rider footrest system, wheel cover, chain guard, front wheel cover, tank covers, air box cover with tapes, wind deflector, sprocket cover, and M pillion package, among others. In terms of the paint scheme, the M 1000 R gets a Light White non-metallic / M Motorsport colour, whereas the M Competition is adorned with a Blackstorm metallic / M Motorsport shade.
BMW M 1000 R and M 1000 R Competition: Features and specificationsBMW has equipped the M 1000 R with all the bells and whites, such as a 6.5-inch colour TFT display, lightweight M battery, a USB charging port, all-LED lighting, adaptive turning lights, electronic cruise control, heated grips, five ride modes (Rain, Road, Dynamic, Race, and Race Pro1-3), latest-gen Dynamic Traction Control, wheelie control, 6-axis IMU, ABS and ABS Pro, launch control, pit-lane limiter, cruise control, keyless ignition, hill start assist pro, dynamic brake control, steering stabiliser, adaptive headlamps, and more.
The motorcycle weighs 199kg and usable fuel tank capacity of 16.5 litres. The seat height stands at 830mm. It uses a 120/70 ZR 17 and 200/55 ZR 17 section tyres at the front and rear, respectively.
BMW M 1000 R and M 1000 R Competition: The heart
The new M 1000 R gets a 999cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with four titanium valves, that delivers 212PS at 14,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. The streetfighter can reach 100km from a standstill in just 3.2 seconds and provides a top speed of 280kmph.
