New BMW R 1300 GS launched in India at Rs 20.95 lakh

BMW Motorrad India has launched the long-awaited new R 1300 GS at Rs 20.95 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). The successor to the world's best-selling adventure motorcycle is now available in four trims: Base, Triple Black, GS Trophy, and Option 719 Tramuntana. Notably, the deliveries for the new R 1300 GS are scheduled to commence by the end of this month.

BMW R 1300 GS: Design & colours

BMW has brought a revolutionary change to the design language of new R 1300 GS. The motorcycle is now sleek, compact and sporty, resulting in a weight reduction of 12kg over the previous model. Key highlights include an X-shaped daytime running lamp, matrix LED headlight, slimmer fuel tank, a new main frame made from a novel sheet metal material, and a new die-cast aluminium sub-frame.

For India, the R 1300 GS Pro is available in various colours, starting from the Base in Light White metallic along with optional choices, such as â€" Triple Black in Blackstorm metallic, GS Trophy in the Racing Blue metallic, and Option 719 Tramuntana in the Aurelius Green metallic.

BMW has given the India-spec R 1300 GS a few optional features as standard, while some vary depending on the trim level.

- Hand protectors with indicators

- Dynamic cruise control with brake function

- Phone charging compartment

- USB charging socket

- Seat heating for rider and pillion

- Keyless ignition

The Riding Assistant, which is offered with Option 719 Tramuntana, comes with Active Cruise Control (ACC), Front Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Change Warning (SWW). Like the R 1250 GS, its successor continues to use telelever front forks and a paralever rear mono-shock. Notably, it introduces electronic dynamic suspension adjustment that automatically alters the spring rate depending on the ride mode and riding conditions. Active height adjustment and sports suspension, which provide 20mm more spring travel at both ends, are also available.

BMW R 1300 GS: Powertrain

The R 1300 GS gets a 1,300cc, boxer-twin, liquid-cooled engine that delivers 145PS at 7,750rpm and 149Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. This motor is mated to a six-speed gearbox.
