New Citroen Basalt launched in India; price starts at Rs 7.99 lakh

Citroen has launched the new Basalt coupe crossover in India at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It has also opened the bookings for a token amount of Rs 11,001. It is important to note that the introductory prices are valid only until 31 October, 2024.

2024 Citroen Basalt: Design & Interior

The Basalt bears the signature Citroen design language, especially the face comprising the split grille and daytime running lights, projector headlamps, fog lamps, pull-up style door handles, familiar taillamp design, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and slanting roofline.

The Basalt is available in a choice of five single-tone paint schemes: Garnet Red, Steel Grey, Polar White, Platinum Grey, and Cosmo Blue, along with Polar White with a Platinum Grey roof and Garnet Red with a Perla Nera Black roof dual-tone shades.

Inside, the interior of the Basalt also looks familiar to its siblings. It gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainent system, a seven-inch fully digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, multifunctional steering wheel, rear AC vents, adjustable under thigh support for the rear seat, wireless charging pad, USB ports, and more. Citroen offers the coupe crossover with six airbags, ESC, three-point seatbelts for all passengers as standard.

2024 Citroen Basalt: Powertrain

The 2024 Basalt comes powered by two engine options: a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol unit makes 82PS and 115Nm, while 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor produces 110PS and 190Nm (205Nm with AT). Transmission options include a five-speed manual, a six-speed manual, and a six-speed automatic. In terms of mileage, the five-speed manual returns 18kmpl, while the six-speed manual and six-speed automatic give out 19.5kmpl and 18.7kmpl, respectively.
