New-gen 2021 Hyundai Elantra teased before global unveil
Hyundai has teased pictures of the all-new seventh-generation Elantra ahead of its global debut in the USA on March 17. To be built on a new platform and sporting a new design language, the 2021 Elantra might arrive in India in the second half of 2021.
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra has undergone a complete makeover and is said to wider, longer and will sit lower than the current car thanks to the all-new platform it will be built upon. The design employs the cascade grille but with new polyhedral LED headlamps and aggressive creases on the front. The new 'Parametric Dynamics' design takes it a step further from the 'Sensuous Sportiness' theme which has three characteristic lines on the sides fusing towards the rear. Also, the sloping roofline almost reached the tip of the bootlid much like a four-door coupe rather than the current sedan profile. Even the tail lamps are now connected by a lightbar.
Giving a sneak peek of the interior, the sketch shows a minimalist design dressed in black and contrasting white highlights. The instrument console might go all-digital with an integrated central touchscreen display for the audio system. Technical details will be revealed next week to give us a rundown on the powertrains.
Hyundai had launched the facelifted Elantra in India in October 2019 and going by the two-year life cycle it has adhered to, we can expect the 2021 Hyundai Elantra to make its Indian debut later next year. As of now, the Elantra is offered with the 2.0-litre petrol engine only and competes with the Skoda Octavia, the Volkswagen Jetta, the Toyota Corolla Altis and the Honda Civic.
