New Hero motorcycle design patent leaked

A recently leaked design patent has hinted at Hero's new sporty naked motorcycle. The upcoming bike is said to be a 200cc motorcycle, which is likely to rival the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and 2023 Bajaj Pulsar NS 200. Also, Hero's upcoming offering could arrive as a direct replacement for the erstwhile Xtreme 200R.

Hero's upcoming new motorcycle: Details
Since the discontinuation of the Xtreme 200R, Hero does not have any sporty naked motorcycles in the 200cc segment. The TVS Apache RTR 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 dominate the 200cc bike segment. Meanwhile, Hero's 200cc lineup comprises the Xpulse 200 4V, Xtreme 200S, and Xpulse 200T 4V.

Hero's upcoming new motorcycle: Engine
Speaking of these 200cc models, the upcoming sporty naked motorcycle from the Indian bike maker could use the same engine as the Xpulse 4V lineup. The leaked patent picture shows that the design of its engine, exhaust, and kick-starter appear identical to the Xpulse 4V models.

The Xpulse 4V is powered by a 199.6cc, four-valve, air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed gearbox. This motor makes 19.1PS at 8,500rpm and 17.35Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. For reference, the Apache RTR 200 4V's 197.75cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine makes 20.82PS at 7,800rpm and 17.25Nm of torque at 5,750rpm, while the Pulsar NS 200 with its 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor produces 24.5PS at 9,750rpm and 18.74Nm at 8,000rpm.

Hero's upcoming new motorcycle: Design
The new motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp, as seen in the leaked design patent, will feature angular bodywork with sharp cuts and creases. It gets a sporty headlight, aggressive fuel tank shrouds, split-type rear grab handles, a wide handlebar, and alloy wheels. The turn indicators are mounted close to the instrument cluster.

Hero's upcoming new motorcycle: Price
We expect the new motorcycle to cost about Rs 1.30-1.40 lakh. However, it is hard to say at the moment about Hero's plan to launch its new bike in India.
