New Hero Xtreme 200S 4V spotted ahead of launch
After the Xpulse 200 4V and Xpulse 200T 4V, Hero MotoCorp is planning to expand its 200cc four-valve engine line-up with an addition of the new Xtreme 200S 4V. The production-spec Xtreme 200S 4V, with a few significant changes, was recently spotted at a dealer event, hinting that its launch is just around the corner.
Upcoming Hero Xtreme 200S 4V: Design
The Xtreme 200S is a sports tourer, but it features super sports-inspired fairing. The upcoming Xtreme 200S 4V also appears to carry forward the same design. However, as seen in the pictures, the motorcycle gets new graphics and decals compared to the on-sale model. While the on-sale Xtreme 200S is available in a choice of three paint options, the new Xtreme 200S 4V is expected to feature a new Yellow shade.
Upcoming Hero Xtreme 200S 4V: Engine
The current Xtreme 200S is powered by a 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 18PS and 16.45Nm of torque. After gaining the new four-valve 199.6cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled motor from the Xpulse 200 4V and Xpusle 200T 4V, the Xtreme 200S 4V is expected to generate 19.1PS at 8,500rpm and 17.35Nm of torque at 6,500rpm. It comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. Meanwhile, Hero could update the engine to meet BS6 phase-2 emission norms and make it compatible with E20 fuel.
Upcoming Hero Xtreme 200S 4V: Specifications
In addition to new colour and graphics, the spy shots reveal a handful of other significant changes. To begin with, the Xtreme 200S 4V comes with a petal disc brake at the front instead of the plain vanilla ring setup. This petal disc brake seems identical to the Xpulse 200 4V disc unit. The Xtreme 200 4V may also get a new handlebar. Apart from that, the bike is likely to remain unchanged.
Upcoming Hero Xtreme 200S 4V: Prices and Rivals
We expect the upcoming Xtreme 200S 4V to command a higher premium over the on-sale Xtreme 200S, which costs Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). Therefore, the new Xtreme 200S 4V could cost Rs 1.40-1.45 lakh. Upon launch, the new Hero Xtreme will take on the Bajaj Pulsar 220F and Suzuki Gixxer SF.
