New Honda CB350-based adventure motorcycle in the pipeline; patent picture leaked

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda is developing a new adventure motorcycle based on the CB350 platform, as revealed in recent leaks of a design patent. When it arrives, the new motorcycle would mark the brand's entry into the entry-level adventure motorcycle space in the market.

The leaked picture suggests that the upcoming Honda adventure motorcycle shares design elements with motorcycles in the Indian market, particularly resembling the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The patent images showcase features such as a substantial windscreen, a high-set front fender, fuel tank extension, a metal frame around the fuel tank and headlamp, and a scooped-out seat. It is expected to include telescopic front forks, dual rear shock absorbers, wire-spoked wheels, and may feature a neo-retro styling. While the frame may share similarities with the CB350, it is expected to be more rugged, catering to the requirements of an adventure motorcycle. The design also hints at in-built luggage-mounts for carrying different luggage systems.

Above all, speculations suggest that the adventure bike could utilise the CB350's 348.36cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, delivering 21.07PS and 29.4Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. In terms of features, Honda's ADV is likely to benefit from dual-channel ABS, ride modes, Bluetooth connectivity, all-LED lighting, digital instrument console, and a slip-and-assist clutch, among others.

Upon its arrival, the new Honda adventure motorcycle is expected to be positioned between the entry-level adventure models, such as the Hero Xpulse 200 4V, the Suzuki V-Strom SX, BMW G 310 GS, Yezdi Adventure, and several high-end models, namely Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Triumph Scrambler 400X, and KTM 390 Adventure.
