New Hyundai Kona debuts with radical design and fresh interior
South Korean auto major Hyundai has unveiled the new generation Kona range, which comprises ICE, hybrid, EV, and sporty N-Line versions. This generation update for the Kona is a radical step up from the current model in terms of exterior design, cabin, platform, and dimensions.
New Hyundai Kona Design
Every new-gen Kona version features distinctive styling in the form of bumpers, cladding, and wheels, but all bear sharp cuts and creases, partly closed-off grilles, and unique light bars. At the front, the light strip runs across the edge of the bonnet. Whereas, the headlights are below either end of the strip. On the other hand, the rear gets a full-length light strip with taillights placed in the outer corners.
New Hyundai Kona Dimensions
The Kona is 150mm longer in length than its predecessor, measuring 4,355mm. Additionally, it has a 60mm extra wheelbase, while the width has grown by 25mm.
New Hyundai Kona Interior
Hyundai has given a fresh look to the cabin. The interior also features two 12.3-inch displays, acting as a driver screen and infotainment touchscreen system, while the conventional gear-selector has been moved behind the steering wheel. Amid the growing trend of minimalist and buttonless dashboards, the Kona carries physical buttons for air conditioning and other multimedia controls. In addition, it gets an electric sunroof, ambient lighting, and USB charging ports.
New Hyundai Kona Powertrain
Hyundai has not revealed the specifications of the Kona range. But it said that it would disclose more details in the coming months.
New Hyundai Kona India Launch
Hyundai offers only the EV version of the Kona in the Indian market, which was launched in mid-2019. While the electric SUV received a mid-cycle facelift globally in 2020, the carmaker has still not introduced it in the country. We expect Hyundai to introduce the new generation Kona electric in India sometime next year.
