New Mahindra Scorpio X name trademarked in India
Mahindra has recently secured a new trademark in India âÂ" Scorpio X. This suggests the arrival of a new model in the Indian market based on the Scorpio-N platform. In fact, this new trademark filing indicates that the Scorpio X moniker may find its place on the Global Pik Up concept, which debuted at the Futurescape event in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Global Pik Up concept stands out as the most probable candidate to bear the Scorpio X name. Expected to make its debut early next year, this production-spec pickup targets international markets and aligns with Mahindra's "go global" strategy. The Global Pik Up holds a pivotal role alongside other upcoming vehicles.
Mahindra Scorpio X: Highlights
Emphasising design, advanced technology, connectivity, and off-road capabilities, the Scorpio X retains the practicality of a pickup. Crafted at the Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in the United Kingdom, it utilises a new-generation ladder frame platform internally referred to as Z121.
The pickup boasts a rugged and commanding presence with contemporary touches. Design highlights include a mesh-patterned grille, L-shaped daytime running lights, robust front and rear bumpers with tow hooks, a snorkel, a roof-mounted carrier featuring an LED light bar, substantial body cladding, a spacious load bay, side steps for easy access, and generously sized tires fitted onto alloy wheels.
Mahindra has equipped the Scorpio X with level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), trailer sway mitigation, multiple airbags, drowsy driver detection, a sunroof, 5G connectivity, driving modes, a premium sound system, and a semi-automatic parking function.
Mahindra Scorpio X: Engine SpecificationsThe upcoming Scorpio-N based Global Pik Up is likely to feature the 2.2-litre inline four-cylinder turbocharged mHawk diesel engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, it gets the 4Xplore four-wheel-drive system.
