New Mahindra Thar Roxx panoramic sunroof confirmed

Ahead of the arrival of the new Mahindra Thar Roxx, a new teaser has confirmed one of its most-anticipated features, a panoramic sunroof. It is to be noted that the unveiling of the SUV is just a short few weeks away. Earlier this year, several spy pictures hinted at the panoramic sunroof and a host of other features coming to the Thar 5-door.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features

It is expected that, unlike the on-sale Thar, the new Thar Roxx will be presented as a lifestyle SUV, which is also a hard-core off-roader. Thus, it could boast more attractive features, such as the panoramic sunroof. This will give the Thar Roxx an edge not only over its direct rivals, such as the Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha 5-door, but also other SUVs in the similar price range.

The SUV is also likely to borrow some modern-day features from its siblings, such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system (like the XUV400/XUV700), a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, wireless charging pad, dual-zone temperature control, telematics, Adronox connected car tech, USB Type-C and Type-A ports, an electronic 4WD mode selector, and more. Mahindra may also offer it with six airbags, hill hold control, hill descent control, brake assist, ESP, TPMS, traction control, drive and terrain modes, and voice assistant, among others.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Engine specifications

Powering the Thar Roxx could be the same engines as the Thar: a 2.0-litre, inline four-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine generating 152PS and 300Nm of torque (320Nm with AT) and a 2.2-litre inline four-cylinder, turbocharged diesel unit that delivers 132PS and 300Nm of torque. Also, there is a possibility of Mahindra offering it with more powerful petrol and diesel engines from the Scorpio-N, which makes 175PS/370Nm of torque (400Nm with AT) in petrol version and 200PS/370Nm (380Nm with AT) in diesel guise.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Price

The price of the Thar Roxx is expected to range between Rs 13-16 lakh and Rs 19-22 lakh. In comparison, the Thar costs Rs 11.35-17.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
