New MG Astor Black Storm India launch tomorrow: What should you expect?
MG Motor India has teased the new Astor Black Storm edition via its social media channels ahead of the launch on September 6, 2023. This special edition of the SUV is expected to be based on the range-topping Savvy variant. Following the pattern set by the Gloster Black Storm Edition, launched in May 2023, the Astor Black Storm is anticipated to feature an all-black treatment both inside and out. Here's what you can expect from the upcoming MG Astor Black Storm Edition.
MG Astor Black Storm : Exterior and InteriorThe Astor Black Storm Edition may feature similar changes to the Gloster Black Storm, including a Starry Black paint job. MG is expected to replace the decorative chrome elements of the Astor with all-black elements, such as the grille, MG logos, model designation, and alloy wheels. The Black Storm version of the Astor may also include red brake callipers and new special edition badges. Inside, the Astor Black Storm is likely to have a dark theme for the dashboard, center console, and upholstery, matching the exterior. Additionally, there could be contrasting red accents on the seats, steering wheel, door panels, and dashboard.
MG Astor Black Storm: Features
The Astor Black Storm is expected to offer the same features as the standard Astor, which includes a seven-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a powered driver's seat, a panoramic sunroof, an AI-powered voice assistant, six airbags, ESP, TCS, HHC, HDC, ABS, EBD, brake assist, four disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, an electric parking brake with auto hold, an air purifier, USB charging ports, i-Smart connected car tech with smartwatch connectivity, TPMS, telematics, OTA updates, and level 2 autonomy.
MG Astor Black Storm: Prices and RivalsThe upcoming MG Astor Black Storm Edition is expected to come at a higher price than the standard model. The top-spec Astor Savvy is priced at Rs 18.69 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch, it will compete with vehicles like the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Midnight Black, Kia Seltos X Line, Hyundai Creta Knight Edition, and Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition.
MG Astor Black Storm: Powertrain
The special-edition Astor could be powered by the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 140PS/220Nm of and 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit that produces 110PS/144Nm. Transmission options may include a five-speed manual, six-speed automatic transmission, and CVT automatic unit.
