New Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 unveiled at Motoverse 2023
Royal Enfield pulled the wraps off the new Shotgun 650 on the first day of the Motoverse 2023. It is the latest model in the brand's 650 line-up after the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650. The bike maker will make only 25 units initially, which will be sold to the attendees of the Motoverse 2023 via a lucky draw.
The Shotgun 650 features major changes compared to the motorcycles it is based on. To start with, there is a new fuel tank (slimmer than Super Meteor 650), rear-set foot pegs compared to the Super Meteor 650, new peashooter-style dual exhaust, distinctive tyres, a redesigned headlamp cowl, a single-seat arrangement (the rear seat can be removed), glossy finish for the engine casing, bar-end mirrors, and slightly reworked fenders.
However, what makes it stand out is the new vivid blue and black paint job, comprising subtle graphics on the fuel tank, side panels, and the rear fender. In fact, the Shotgun 650 also gets LED indicators.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: Specifications
Although the features and specifications of the Shotgun 650 are unavailable at the moment, we expect it to come with the same instrument console with Tripper navigation as the Super Meteor 650, along with the same disc brake setup, slip-and-assist clutch, and dual-channel ABS. As seen in the pictures, it gets upside down front forks, twin rear shock absorbers, and alloy wheels.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: EngineAlthough the engine on the Shotgun 650 looks identical to the other 650 models, its power output figures are scarce at the moment. For reference, the INT 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650 come powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin, air/oil-cooled engine producing 47PS at 7,250rpm and 52.3Nm of torque at 5,650rpm. It is mated to a a six-speed gearbox.
Royal Enfield Shotgun 650: Pricing
We expect the Shotgun 650 to go on sale in the country at the beginning of 2024. Notably, the prices of the motorcycle could start from Rs 3.30-3.40 lakh. The prices of the INT 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650 start from Rs 3.02 lakh, Rs 3.18 lakh and Rs 3.54 lakh (all ex-showroom), respectively.
