New Tata Nexon variant spotted with panoramic sunroof

A new short video of the test mule of the Tata Nexon has surfaced on the internet, sparking excitement among SUV enthusiasts. While the Nexon facelift was launched in September 2023, the latest spy pictures hint at a significant update: a new panoramic sunroof.

Interestingly, the primary rival of the Nexon, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, recently hit the market boasting a panoramic sunroof, making it the only offering in the segment with this feature. With this in mind, Tata is expected to introduce the panoramic sunroof version of its sub-four-meter SUV in the coming months. Despite being the highest-selling SUV in its segment, the current Nexon comes with a single-pane electrically adjustable sunroof. However, it lacks features like ADAS, which are present in competitors like the Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue, as well as the level 2 autonomy found in the XUV 3XO.

Tata Nexon engine & transmission

Under the bonnet, the Nexon offers a choice between a 1.2-liter, inline three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine generating 120PS and 170Nm of torque and a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder turbocharged diesel unit that produces 115PS and 260Nm of torque.

Both engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or an AMT. Additionally, the petrol variant offers the option of a new seven-speed DCT transmission, while the diesel variant comes with a choice of a six-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.

In other news, Tata Motors launched a new entry-level variant of the Nexon, called the Smart (O) at Rs Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). Not only that, the prices of the Smart + and Smart + S petrol models have been cut by Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000, respectively. The Smart + is now available for Rs 8.90 lakh, while the Smart + S is priced at Rs 9.40 lakh.
