Next-generation Ford Figo to also have a sedan variant, may also come to India
For many years the Figo has been Ford India's bread and butter model, and has stayed largely unchanged over the years. But that is changing with the popularity of the EcoSport.
Ford, however, is now looking at a new generation of the Figo, the tests of which have already started in Brazil. Codenamed B562, the hatchback version of the Figo will also be shortly joined by a sedan variant. Spotted in Detroit by The Truth About Cars and in base version, the Ford Figo sedan looks strikingly similar to the Chevrolet Sail. From the spy shots, the car seems like a sub 4-metre sedan and if it is, will compete against the Dzire, Amaze and the upcoming Grand i10-based sedan. By the time it comes to India, we expect there will be a few interior revisions mainly in design and features.
For this car in India, Ford may use the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines which currently do duty under the hoods of the Figo. Ford will in all probability also offer the 1.0 EcoBoost engine as an option like they do in the EcoSport. The Brazilian launch of this car is scheduled sometime next year while an Indian launch could be on the cards by late 2014 or early 2015.
