#ODRewind: Ignis specs leaked, TVS Victor and RTR 200 launched, Ford Endeavour launched, Mahindra 1.99-litre XUV500 and Scorpio
Ignis specs leakedWhen we first saw the Suzuki Ignis in production spec at the Auto Expo we were convinced it would be a great little car for India. Now, a leak on the internet has given us some of the specs for this compact crossover that will be the next vehicle to retail out of the Nexa network. The Suzuki Ignis, in global markets, will be powered by a 1.25-litre Dualjet petrol engine that produces 91PS. It will get Suzuki's SHVS mild hybrid technology and a 3.1PS electric motor. The Ignis will be offered with two-wheel drive as standard. However, buyers will also get the option of Suzuki's AllGrip four-wheel-drive system. The Ignis spans 3.7m long which makes it a little longer than a Renault Kwid. In India, expect the Ignis with the option of a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.25-litre diesel from the Baleno.
The TVS Victor returnsTVS has reignited the iconic Victor nameplate with a brand new 110cc motorcycle that has been launched at a starting price of Rs 49,490 ex-Delhi. Power comes from a purpose built 3-valve, 110cc engine that makes 9.6PS and 9.4Nm of torque. TVS promises that the new Victor will have the refinement and efficiency of a 110cc motorcycle while delivering the performance of a 125. The new Victor is available in two variants, the higher spec offering a disc brake up front (Rs 51,490).
TVS RTR 200 4V is finally here
The new RTR gets a larger 200cc engine that makes 20.5PS and 18.1Nm. A fuel injected version is also available which makes marginally more power (21PS) but proves to be a far more willing and rev happy motor. All variants get a 5-speed gearbox and the RTR 200 4V is the first TVS to get a monoshock. We like the sharp styling and found the RTR to be an entertaining handler. The base carburetted version costs Rs 88,990 while the fuel injected version is priced at Rs 1.07 lakh. The top fuel injected ABS equipped version costs Rs 1.15 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
The original Endeavour started the sub Rs 30 lakh full-size SUV segment in India and it went on to become a cult favourite of sorts. The new one gets a much needed makeover and has been launched at a competitive price that ranges from Rs 24.75 to Rs 29.76lakh ex-showroom. We were very impressed with the Endeavour in our road test and we found it to be equally impressive when compared with the new Chevrolet Trailblazer. The upcoming Toyota Fortuner has its work cut out.
Mahindra has made an amazingly quick response to the ban on the sale of diesel vehicles over 2000cc in Delhi by announcing the launch of a new 1.99-litre version of the mHawk engine. Mahindra hasn't revealed too much about the engine except that it will be on offer in Delhi and NCR regions for now and there is no confirmation on whether this engine will replace the current 2.2-litre mHawk. We see no reason why it won't because Mahindra claims it makes the same power as the current 2.2-litre engine - 120PS and 140PS in the Scorpio and XUV500 respectively
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza generates excitementOne of the most eagerly awaited unveils at the 2016 Auto Expo will be Maruti's new sub 4m compact SUV. The company has confirmed that it will be named the Vitara Brezza but the big news is that this product has been developed ground up in India under the supervision of C V Raman, executive director of engineering at MSIL. Maruti first showcased the Vitara Brezza as a concept at the 2012 Auto Expo, in the form of the XA-Alpha concept. A teaser video shows that the Brezza gets a prominent XA-Alpha inspired grille which meets the headlight clusters that house projector headlamps and LED DRLs. All will be revealed at the 2016 Auto Expo
