Ola S1 Air launched at Rs 79,999
Ola Electric has launched the most affordable version of its S1 electric scooter model in India and it's called the S1 Air. Priced at Rs 79,999, the S1 Air is here to take on most of the electric scooters that are currently sold in India as well as some ICE scooters that are roughly priced the same. Here's what you need to know about the new scoot.
The S1 Air certainly stands out from the other Ola scooters because this one gets a dual-tone body colour - a black lower half body panel, unlike the coloured panels on the S1 and S1 Pro. The new S1 Air also uses a simpler tubular metal grab rail, unlike the sturdier cast aluminium unit on the S1 and S1 Pro. The biggest change comes in the form of the standard telescopic fork up front instead of the neat single-shock on the S1 and S1 Pro. The S1 Air gets with dual shocks at the rear.
There's quite a lot that's different with the S1 Air under its skin too. The S1 Air gets a smaller 2.5kWh battery unit in comparison to the 3Kwh battery in the S1 and the 4kWh unit in the S1 Pro. This beings its claimed ARAI figure 101km on a complete charge. Now, on paper, this looks a lot less than that the S1 and S1 Pro offer, but it's still on par with electric scoots like the base TVS iQube. The Air weighs in at 99kg, and features a less powerful 4.5kWhub motor and not the 5.5kW mid-mounted motor as its siblings. Its 0-40kmph sprint time isn't as quick as the other two and its top speed is limited to 90kmph. the Air also ges a slightly smaller boot with 34-litres of storage space on offer.
In terms of features' the S1 Air surprisingly gets a lot of the top-end features from its more premium siblings such as the Reverse mode, Ten there's the seven-inch touch screen display, which allows smartphone connectivity, it's multiple ride profiles, music and call management with dedicated buttons, multiple riding moods. The scooter also gets inbuilt speakers as well.
You can book yourself an S1 Air for Rs 999 through Ola's website or app. The payment window will open in the first week of February 2023 with deliveries expected to commence in the first week of April 2023.
