Range Rover and Range Rover Sport ace Euro NCAP safety test with a 5-star rating
In the most recent Euro NCAP safety testing, the New Range Rover and Range Rover Sport both received the maximum five-star ratings.
The cornerstone of both models is a new mixed-metal, adaptable Modular Longitudinal Architecture, which offers strong support for a collection of cutting-edge driver assistance systems to collaborate for responsive and refined driving. The new Range Rover is up to 50 percent stiffer than its predecessor and comes in four, five and seven-seat configurations. The Range Rover Sport is up to 35 percent stiffer.
Three powerplant options are available for the all-new Range Rover. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system is incorporated with 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine delivers 394PS and 550 Nm of torque, while the diesel engine provides 346PS and 700 Nm of torque. On the other hand, a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces 523PS and 750Nm of torque.
On the inside, the 2022 Range Rover features a completely new dashboard and an upgraded infotainment system. There's a 13.1-inch curved, floating touchscreen and a 13.7-inch full-digital instruments display, with a head-up display available as an option. A redesigned double-bar steering wheel, physical climate control controls, a full-size panoramic sunroof and 11.4-inch entertainment displays for the rear-seat passengers are also incorporated.
The Range Rover range starts from Rs 2.38 crore and rises all the way up to Rs 3.51 crore.
The new Range Rover Sport will be available at local dealerships from the end of 2022 and will be offered in four variants including Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography and First Edition.
The 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will power the new-generation Range Rover Sport in India. The former will be coupled with a battery pack and offered as a PHEV with a triple-digit EV-only range. The diesel engine will provide 346PS and 700 Nm of torque, while the petrol engine will produce 434PS and 620 Nm of torque. Across the board, an 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard.
Thomas Mueller, Executive Director Product Engineering, Jaguar Land Rover, said "These excellent Euro NCAP results are a direct result of the hard work and expertise that goes into designing, engineering and manufacturing vehicles that have combined safety, capability and luxury for more than five decades. Our strong, mixed metal MLA-Flex body architecture provides solid foundations for a suite of cutting-edge active safety systems that combined, work in harmony to protect occupants and other road users. These Range Rovers are a technological triumph."
