Meanwhile, the 2024 new generation Tiguan has already been spied testing on a few occasions. While the test mules appeared near-production-ready, the SUV is likely to make its global debut in early 2024. What's new in the updated Volkswagen Tiguan?

While the previous model had a dark interior, the updated Tiguan now features a new dual-tone Storm Grey and Titanium Black color scheme. Additionally, it comes equipped with a wireless charging pad.

Updated Volkswagen Tiguan: Design

The updated Tiguan retains the same design as the previous model. The India-specific model is available in various distinctive shades including Nightshade Blue, Pure White, Oryx White, Deep Black, Dolphin Grey, Kings Red, and Reflex Silver. Key exterior highlights include subtle body cladding, matrix LED headlights, daytime running lights, chrome elements, and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Updated Volkswagen Tiguan: Interior and features

Aside from the new interior tone and the addition of wireless charging, the cabin remains unchanged. The SUV continues to be offered with Vienna leather upholstery, an eight-way powered adjustable driver seat with lumbar support, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver display, eight speakers, and Type-C USB charging ports.

The SUV also gets numerous features, such as a panoramic sunroof, three-zone temperature control, multi-colour ambient lighting, six airbags, ESP, anti-slip regulation, hill hold and descend control, cooled glove box, and electric tailgate, among others. As a part of Level 1 ADAS package, the Tiguan comes with a park assist function. However, it still misses out on a 360deg camera and front ventilated seats.

Updated Volkswagen Tiguan: Powertrain

The most significant update to the Tiguan lies in its BS6 phase-2 compliant 2.0-liter, inline four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this engine generates 190PS and 320Nm of torque. The SUV also features Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive system.

Rivals of the updated Volkswagen Tiguan:

In India, the Volkswagen Tiguan competes against the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Citroen C5 Aircross, and Skoda Kodiaq. Skoda has also recently updated the Kodiaq to meet the BS6 phase-2 emission regulations.
