Renault Captur SUV teased. Premium SUV India unveil on September 21, 2017

Renault India will be unveiling the Captur SUV on September 21, 2017. There is also the Renault Kaptur which is another Renault SUV but not the same as the Captur which is going to come to India shortly. The Renault Captur is based on the Duster's platform. If you remember, the all-new Duster was just revealed at the International Motor Show, Germany in Frankfurt a few days ago. Renault, Nissan and Dacia are part of the same family of brands and they share platforms as well as engines. In fact, in India, Renault sells the Duster re-badged as a Renault as well as the Nissan Terrano. We expect, however, that the Renault Captur SUV will not go down that route. There is unlikely to be a Nissan version of the new Renault premium SUV. That said, we also do not expect Renault to expand the engines it uses in India for Captur. We expect to see the proven 1.5-litre diesel and the 1.6-litre petrol to be the engines of choice for the Renault Captur. The Renault Captur is expected to take the fight to the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Creta - we just finished comparison of those two premium SUVS. with a price starting at Rs 10 lakh.  In preparation for the launch of the Captur, Renaul has been teasing its premium SUV heavily and in the process has revealed a few details of the Captur. Take a look at what we know about Renault's new premium SUV.

The flowing grille in the Renault Captur is similar to the one we have seen with the Maruti

The all-LED headlamps of the Renault Captur along with the DRLs and dynamic turn indicators will definitely grab attention

The front profile of the Renault Captur SUV shows the dynamic turn indicators and the all-LED headlights. There are also the C-shaped LED DRLs. Then there is the big Renault logo that sits on the V-shaped grille. The brushed aluminium split-shaped alloys too look classy. At the back, the C-shaped LED lights add a bit of flair to the design. The Renault Captur is expected to have premium touches to the interior and get all the goodies that others in this segment get. Like the Renault Kwid, the Captur too is expected to get a host of customisation options. As is the current trend, Renault will be offering the Captur in India with a dual-tone scheme.

The C-shaped LED tail lights of the Renault Captur are eye catching

These split alloys look like they are 16-inchers. Renault might also offer 15-inch tyres for the base version of the Captur

The powertrains are likely to be shared with the Renault Duster and this means the 110PS 1.5-litre diesel and 1.6-litre petrol engines along with a mix of manual as well as automatic gearboxes. On the diesel Renault Captur, there will also be an AWD option. Expect the Renault Captur prices to start from Rs 10 lakh and going all the way to Rs 16 lakh. The Renault Captur SUV will go on sale this festive season and will be made at the company's Oragadam facility.
